Around Cotignac

Situated at the heart of the Var region, Cotignac is just 1hr drive from the Verdon Gorge and 1 1/2 hrs from the Mediterranean Sea.
Surrounded by Maquis scrublands, this region of France is blessed with sunshine all year long and has a rich tapestry of landscapes.

We may be far from the sea, but we are still surrounded by water. In each surrounding village you will find beautiful fountains and ‘lavoirs’ – ancient wash houses where the ladies of the village would meet each day to chat and work.
Visit the many fountains of Barjols, the stunning waterfall at Sillans -la-Cascade, relax by the river at Vallon-Sourn,Correns, fish in the lake at Carces
…or to just relax, swim, wind surf or sail don’t miss a visit to the magnificent the St Croix lake.

You cannot fail to  be impressed by the ruggedness, beauty, colour and smell of the countryside.
Provence is a magical place  where you can hike or trek in its many hills, and mountains or along its extensive coastlines.

Immerse yourself in local life :
Make the most of your french experience by shopping at  the many local markets, take part in a game of “provencal boules” , sit back and enjoy a glass of the local wine in a pavement cafe or join in with the traditional festivals of the area.

Discover life on a provencal farm :
The Var is fortunate  to have goat and sheep breeders who will welcome you and show you how to make their cheese. You can also visit the vineyards to see how to produce wine, olive  and lavander oil .
Many of them are proud to be totally organic and if you wish you can support their business by ordering a hamper of their produce during your stay.
